I was born Laura Burk in Minneapolis, MN. I lived in Minnesota for many years before moving to Orlando, FL, and then to Washington, DC, got homesick and moved back to Minnesota. However, now, we are back permanently living in East Orlando.
My career and training focus primarily on sales, public relations, and event planning. Most of my clientele are small business owners, but I also work with national accounts and franchises. You can read about my previous work or my portfolio.

I have two beautiful daughters (and one in heaven). My oldest daughter is married to our son-in-law, who is serving in the Air Force, and my youngest daughter is a registered nurse and married to a senior growth analyst at a large corporation. We are blessed with three amazing grandsons.
Since I did not take the traditional military marriage route and have not experienced a deployed spouse, I didn't consider myself a military spouse (initially). My husband had already completed well over 20+ years when we met, and is now medically retired.
I have, however, been introduced to various military communities throughout my lifetime both personally and professionally. Which you can read about in my Blog: Military Life
Colin and I began our life with two adorable puppies: Wesley (Boxer) and Buttercup (Puggle). We love to travel and visit interesting "local" places in small town USA, as well as sightseeing in some of America's most popular major cities.
This is a photo of us in San Francisco, CA, when we traveled the US for over one month before he transferred to the Defense Language School in Washington, DC. We wanted to see our country before moving to Germany together for the next three years.
However, life took us on a different journey instead. After a Red Cross emergency and a burn unit, he became a Wounded Warrior.

Due to our living arrangements, in a medical facility, we are not able to live with our puppies, which is why I lovingly dote on them when I wrote in this blog under the category: "Puppies"

In 2017, my husband suddenly became mysterious and seriously ill, resulting in us moving permanently to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, with me as his full-time caregiver.
I write about my husband's unique medical condition in this blog under the category: "Military Caregiver"
When I am not attending my husband's medical appointments and treatments, I continue to work with select clientele in Public Relations and Consulting work, as well as continue to volunteer my time.
I am a Christian. My faith is extremely important to me. Throughout my life I have struggled with anxiety and depression; however, I am free in Christ. It is my belief in God that has pulled me through the trials of life and has made me who I am today. I share my faith in my blog, simply titled "faith"
